Design Education Course, 15.-16.12.2023, Tilburg
This course will introduce you to the skills and knowledge needed to cultivate the next generation of architects and urban designers.
The course will be held on 15-16 December 2023 at the Academy in Tilburg. We recommend this course to all who teach in a studio.

Purpose
The objective of the course is to become aware of and acquire skills associated with being a teacher. Often teachers are experts in a specialism or in design, without a didactic background. Moreover, an expert largely practices his/her profession implicitly.
However, being an instructor means being able to make this largely implicit skill clear to students and specifically train students in (sub)skills.
In the teacher training ‘design didactics’ the first steps are taken towards naming implicit design skills and consciously using didactic skills.
Method
The course offers a varied program of short lectures in which theory is addressed as a framework for practical practice to train skills.
Topics
Central to this two-day course is the design process. Common practice is that teachers focus mainly on the design product, as they do in their office practice. Learning to design, however, also means making the design process explicit.
This includes interaction aspects, such as looking and listening, asking questions, instructing and explaining, and the structure and atmosphere of an assistance.
