Message from the new EAAE President, Roberto Cavallo
Dear Colleagues, Dear Members of the European Association for Architectural Education,
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I write to you as the newly elected President of our esteemed network. As we move forward together, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the solid foundation laid by my predecessor and share some thoughts on the future.
Over the past seven years, under the dedicated leadership of our outgoing President, Oya Atalay Franck, and Vice-President, Ilaria Valente, we have witnessed remarkable growth and transformation within our association. We have become a thriving, diverse, and responsible community, united by a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of architectural education and research across Europe. Our organizational strength and stability now allow us to undertake actions and projects that can significantly impact the future of our field.
Stepping into this role, I bring with me the experience and passion that I have cultivated throughout my career, particularly in architectural education. My journey, spanning over three decades in both academia and practice, has deepened my understanding of the critical role that education plays in addressing the complexities of our living environment. In these uncertain, unstable, and challenging times, our work is more important than ever. We must continue to lead through shared values, guiding the next generation of colleagues to become sensitive and responsible professionals.
Our association’s mission, objectives, and values are crucial to fostering collaboration, promoting interdisciplinary approaches, and enhancing partnerships across various sectors. By doing so, we not only advance our own work but also contribute to the broader societal good. I am committed to ensuring that our network remains a vibrant platform for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and exploring new roles in architectural education.
As we embark on this journey together, I am inspired by the energy, dedication, and passion that each of you brings to our community. I am confident that by working collaboratively, we can continue to push the boundaries of what we can achieve. Let us build on the strong foundations we have and, together, contribute to a future that reflects our shared values and aspirations.
Thank you for your trust and support. I look forward to working closely with all of you.
Warm regards,
Roberto Cavallo
